Beach Boys style recording
30 September 2009
It was a suggestion of producer Tom Pearce to do it that way. He once had the pleasure to work with
the Beach Boys on an Elton John session. The Beach Boys were asked by Elton to do the backing vocals
for the song they did that day.
The whole idea was to stand around one microphone with the singers and record the 3-part vocals at once.
And then overdub the same or slightly different part a couple of times. This way the harmonies are really
sung together instead of seperatly. This created magic .................
It did not take long for Jan, Marco and Peter to get used to the situation as they are pretty used to sing
together with for example just acoustic guitars. New parts were made up on the spot and something
fantastic was created.
After doing the backing vocals Jan was really up for doing a new lead-vocalpart. He did a marvelous job.
